Summer Pre-Dance Programs at Tacoma City Ballet
Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, and Pre-Elementary
Tacoma City Ballet’s Children’s Division, for three to six years olds, follows the natural impulse of the young child to move with freedom and creativity. Most children have a natural feeling for movement and find satisfaction in being allowed to move to a musical background. For the child without a natural rhythm, this early training does a great deal toward bringing on its development. Simplified barre and floor exercises will help your little one acquire balance and flexibility. Centre floor consists of training in rhythm, muscular control, and coordination with an emphasis on creative dance until the body is strong enough to start the formal technique of Classical Ballet. The child who has had Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, and Pre-Elementary is well prepared for Classical Ballet classes as she or he has learned to think of the body as an instrument of interpretation, understands group discipline, has learned to move and count simple music, and has become more coordinated than an average child of the same age.
Creative Movement
Miss Danielle teaches this wonderful class for three-year-olds and beginning four-year-olds. Each week offers a different theme to spark young imaginations. Miss Danielle will lead young dancers through an appropriately-paced syllabus of Classical Ballet technique while inspiring creativity and a life-long love of dance.
Mondays 3:15-3:45pm
$12 Per Week or $90 for the Full 8-Week Session
Full Session – Creative Movement: 
Pre-Ballet
In this class, Miss Danielle combines Creative Movement with primary Classical Ballet steps to create an enjoyable learning experience for the young dancer. Rhythms and flexibility are further emphasized to continue advancement for five-year-old and four-year-old students.
Pre-Ballet 1 (4 year olds) – Wednesdays 4:00-4:45pm
Pre-Ballet 2 (5 year olds) – Mondays 5:15-6:00pm
$15 Per Week or $110 for the Full 8-Week Session
Full Session – Pre-Ballet 1 & 2:
Pre-Elementary
Miss Danielle teaches this hour-long class for the six-year-old dancer who is ready for more advanced Classical Ballet repertoire. Young dancers will expand on their Classical Ballet vocabulary from Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet and continue refining Classical Ballet technique, musicality, and coordination.
Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm
$19 Per Week or $140 for the Full 8-Week Session
