Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, & Pre-Elementary

Tacoma City Ballet’s Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet and Pre-Elementary Division for children age three to seven, presents simplified barre and floor exercises that follow the natural impulse of the young child to move with freedom and creativity.  The young dancer will acquire balance, coordination, flexibility, muscular control, and rhythm with an emphasis on creative dance. The young dancer who has participated in Creative Movement, Pre-Ballet, and Pre-Elementary is well prepared for classical ballet technique which formally begins in Elementary 1.  She or he has learned to think of the body as an instrument of interpretation, understands group discipline, has learned to move and count simple music, and has become more coordinated than an average child of the same age.

Creative Movement

This wonderful class for three-year-olds introduces young dancers to movement with a musical background.  Miss Danielle will lead students through an appropriately-paced syllabus of Classical Ballet technique while inspiring creativity and a life-long love of dance.

Pre-Ballet 1

In Pre-Ballet 1, creative movement is combined with primary classical ballet steps to create an enjoyable learning experience for the four-year-old dancer.

Pre-Ballet 2

Pre-Ballet 2 continues to build on Creative Movement while further emphasizing primary Classical Ballet steps to create a learning experience combining creativity and self-control for the young dancer.  Additional vocabulary and steps will be explored to continue advancement for five-year-old students.

Mondays 4:00-4:45pm ~ OR ~ Thursdays 5:15-6:00pm

Pre-Elementary

Miss Danielle teaches this hour-long class for the six-year-old dancer who is ready for more advanced Classical Ballet repertoire.  Young dancers will expand on their Classical Ballet vocabulary from Creative Movement and Pre-Ballet and continue refining Classical Ballet technique, musicality, and coordination.

Tuesdays 4:30-5:30pm ~ OR ~ Wednesdays 5:00-6:00pm
